Yesterday, the Ministry of Education took another major step toward transforming how Liberian children learn science.

At Paynesville Elementary and Junior High School, Minister of Education Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah launched the “Lab in a Box” Science Kits, an innovation designed to bring hands-on STEM learning to Grades 1–6 classrooms across the country.

Speaking at the event, the Minister reminded Liberians that science is a survival skill and the foundation upon which nations build dignity, independence, and prosperity. She emphasized that strong STEM education is essential if Liberia is to reduce dependency and prepare young people for a future defined by innovation.

The new kits will help young learners conduct simple experiments, ask questions, and learn through discovery, teaching them not just what to think, but how to think.

This initiative directly supports the Government’s ARREST Agenda, recognizing that progress in agriculture, roads, rule of law, sanitation, and tourism all requires a strong base in science and problem-solving.

With “Lab in a Box,” we are planting seeds of curiosity in classrooms today, and nurturing the scientists, engineers, and innovators who will shape Liberia’s tomorrow.
