Empowering Liberia’s Education System: Strengthening Leadership, Collaboration, and Excellence

The Ministry of Education has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to strengthening Liberia’s education system through unity, innovation, and strategic collaboration.

Speaking at the induction ceremony of Mr. Antonio Zayzay as Director of the Webbo Rural Teacher Training Institute (WRTTI) in River Gee County, Deputy Minister for Instruction, Amos Fully, emphasized the transformative power of education in addressing societal challenges and fostering sustainable national development.

Deputy Minister Fully reiterated the Ministry’s dedication to enhancing support for educators, outlining ongoing efforts to improve working conditions.

He highlighted key initiatives such as salary adjustments and employment incentives aimed at elevating the quality of teaching and learning nationwide.

Additionally, he emphasized the critical need for strengthened collaboration with development partners, including UNICEF and the Cata Center, to address educational challenges and expand learning opportunities across Liberia.

In his inaugural address, Director Antonio Zayzay reaffirmed his commitment to fostering a culture of excellence at WRTTI. He underscored the vital role of education in empowering rural communities and detailed several transformative initiatives underway at the institution.

These include the renovation of staff quarters and academic offices, the integration of modern teaching resources such as whiteboards, and the establishment of a dedicated school fund to ensure long-term sustainability and institutional growth.

Director Zayzay commended the invaluable contributions of educational partners, acknowledging their significant impact on Liberia’s education sector.

He called for sustained collaboration and collective efforts to advance educational standards, improve teacher training, and enhance access to quality learning opportunities for all.

Committed to integrity, transparency, and accountability, he pledged to lead WRTTI with diligence, ensuring that the institution remains a model for excellence in teacher education and professional development.
