April 9, 2025 – Paris, France

For the first time in 45 years, the Republic of Liberia is being represented at the high-level interviews for the position of Director-General of a major international organization. The Honorable Minister of Education, Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah is attending this landmark event, highlighting Liberia’s renewed presence and engagement on the global stage.

This year’s selection process features three exceptional candidates from three different continents: Congo, Egypt, and Mexico. Their participation reflects the global importance and reach of the role.

Dr. Jallah’s participation is a proud moment for Liberia and signifies the country’s strong commitment to global cooperation in education, science, and culture. Her presence sends a clear message about Liberia’s readiness to contribute to shaping the future of international policy and leadership.

“This is a truly historic moment for Liberia,” said Dr. Jallah. “To be present and engaged in this process after 45 years is not only symbolic but also a testament to our commitment to international dialogue, development, and education.”

During the interview process, Dr. Jallah posed the following question:

The Fortaleza Declaration represents a bold commitment toward inclusive education. What concrete steps would you prioritize to support member states in implementing inclusive and equitable education policies that address the needs of marginalized and vulnerable learners?

These interviews are a critical part of the process leading up to the official vote, which is scheduled to take place in October 2025.
