Liberia Validates New Agro-Ecological Curriculum to Strengthen Agricultural Education and Youth Empowerment
Monrovia, Liberia | May 12, 2025

The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Liberia is pleased to announce the official validation of the Agro-Ecological Vegetation Gardening Curriculum a groundbreaking step forward in the modernization of Liberia’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system.
The validation event, graciously hosted by the Institut Européen de Coopération et de Développement (IECD), marks a defining moment in Liberia’s educational reform agenda—placing agriculture and food security at the forefront of youth empowerment, job creation, and sustainable national development.
Developed through an inclusive, evidence-based, and participatory process, this newly validated curriculum provides a practical, competency-based framework that equips learners with essential agro-ecological knowledge and hands-on skills.

It is tailored to meet the demands of Liberia’s evolving agricultural economy and to prepare a new generation of agripreneurs who can thrive in both local and regional markets.
Speaking at the event, Assistant Minister for Planning, Research, and Development, reaffirmed the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the full and effective implementation of the curriculum across institutions nationwide. “This curriculum represents more than just education—it is a vehicle for transformation. It will empower our youth, strengthen rural livelihoods, and reinforce national resilience,” the Assistant Minister emphasized.
This initiative reflects the Ministry’s deep appreciation for strategic partnerships and its long-standing collaboration with IECD, which continues to play a vital role in driving innovation and excellence in Liberia’s education sector.
The Ministry of Education remains committed to building a responsive, skills-based, and future-ready TVET system—one that empowers young Liberians to lead in sustainable agriculture, contribute to food security, and promote inclusive economic growth.
