Liberia’s Education Minister Concludes Ghana Visit with New Partnership to Enhance School Governance and Management
(September 3, 2024, Monrovia, Liberia)
In a strategic effort to enhance school governance and management, Liberia’s Minister of Education, Dr. Jarso M. Jallah, led a delegation to Ghana on a study tour from August 26th to 30th, 2024. The delegation aimed to learn from Ghana’s National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA) to improve Liberia’s school monitoring and supervision practices.
This initiative was part of the South-South Cooperation (SSC) framework, which fosters the exchange of knowledge and best practices among developing countries. During the visit, the delegation focused on Ghana’s advancements in educational oversight, particularly in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), as well as innovations in educational technology, such as distance learning and open schooling.
The team engaged in meaningful discussions with the Ghanaian Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and key officials from various educational agencies, gaining valuable insights to inform Liberia’s educational reforms.
The study tour is expected to culminate in a comprehensive report outlining the lessons learned and best practices identified, which will serve as a blueprint for establishing Liberia’s own School Inspectorate. Dr. Jallah highlighted the significance of bilateral cooperation, particularly in vocational education and technology, to empower Liberian youth with the skills required for the evolving job market. She expressed confidence in the potential for future collaboration between Ghana and Liberia, emphasizing a shared commitment to improving educational outcomes across the region through South-South Cooperation.
