Monrovia, Liberia – April 15, 2025:

The Ministry of Education, through its Bureau of Basic and Secondary Education, in collaboration with UNICEF, held a strategic working session to finalize the operational plan for the ‘Back to My Classroom’ Campaign.
The one-day meeting brought together key stakeholders to strengthen efforts aimed at returning out-of-school children to classrooms across Liberia.
Opening the session, Mr. Charles Nabongo of UNICEF highlighted the campaign’s critical role in expanding educational access and called for unified action to improve school enrollment.

Assistant Minister Hon. Abba G. Karnga provided an update, noting the distribution of 5,000 school bags to students in need and announcing the formation of a National Steering Committee to oversee implementation.
He emphasized the urgency of securing additional funding to sustain progress.
Launched in 2024 by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., the campaign has been activated in seven counties with support from Education Officers and community-based organizations.
