Ministry of Education Applauds Second Lady H.E. Synleseh Stephenie Dahn-Koung for Championing Education and Empowerment of Marginalized Women

The Ministry of Education expresses its profound appreciation to Her Excellency Synleseh Stephenie Dahn-Koung, Second Lady of Liberia, for her unwavering commitment to advancing educational and vocational opportunities for marginalized women in Montserrado County.
In a landmark effort to promote inclusivity and empowerment, the Second Lady officially launched a transformative initiative aimed at expanding access to education and skills training for underprivileged women.
This initiative reaffirms Liberia’s dedication to fostering equitable learning opportunities and enhancing socioeconomic development, drawing support from national and international stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Nathaniel Cisco, Assistant Minister for Vocational and Technical Education, serving as the proxy for the Minister of Education, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to inclusive education.
He emphasized that all newly constructed schools across Liberia are designed to accommodate individuals from diverse backgrounds, ensuring equal access to quality education.

Furthermore, he highlighted the establishment of the Division of Special & Inclusive Education, a key department within the Ministry responsible for engaging marginalized communities, including persons with disabilities, to promote equitable educational opportunities nationwide.
Delivering her keynote address, Second Lady Dahn-Koung passionately encouraged women to embrace vocational training and recognize their invaluable contributions to society.
She called on national and international partners, including the government and non-governmental organizations, to intensify efforts in supporting marginalized women, emphasizing their rightful place as integral members of their communities.

The event was anchored on the theme, “Nothing About Us Without Us,” underscoring the significance of inclusive policies that actively involve and uplift marginalized groups.
The Ministry of Education remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing inclusive education through strategic partnerships and innovative programs.
In collaboration with national and international stakeholders, the Ministry will continue implementing initiatives that empower women and ensure equitable access to quality education, particularly for those facing socioeconomic challenges.
