Ministry of Education Concludes Landmark AU-UNESCO Africa Continental Conference on STEM, Empowering Innovation and Shaping Africa’s Future
Monrovia, Liberia – December 2, 2024 –
The Ministry of Education of Liberia has successfully concluded the highly anticipated AU-UNESCO Africa Continental Conference on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), a transformative event that united influential leaders and experts from across the African continent. Spanning one week, the conference provided a vital platform for collaboration, aiming to address Africa’s unique challenges and opportunities in STEM education.
Key discussions focused on enhancing educational frameworks, promoting gender equality, fostering innovation, and inspiring entrepreneurial ventures in STEM. Furthermore, the conference explored sustainable financing solutions and established long-term partnerships to advance STEM initiatives across Africa.
A defining moment of the conference was the keynote address delivered by Honorable Nathaniel K. Cisco, Jr., Assistant Minister for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at the Ministry of Education.
Minister Cisco highlighted the urgent need to unlock Africa’s vast youth potential in STEM, emphasizing education’s transformative power to address the continent’s developmental challenges.
