Ministry of Education, in Partnership with UNICEF, Enhances Teacher Training with 30 Motorbikes for RTTIs

Monrovia, Liberia – March 24, 2025
The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with UNICEF, has donated 30 motorbikes to Liberia’s Rural Teacher Training Institutes (RTTIs) to enhance supervision, monitoring, and operational efficiency across the Zorzor, Kakata, and Webbo institutes.

The donation ceremony commenced with welcoming remarks from Hon. Atty. Yekeh Y. Forpka, Deputy Minister for Administration, who reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to strengthening its partnership with UNICEF to advance education in Liberia.
UNICEF Country Representative, Mr. Andy Brooks, commended the Ministry’s leadership for its continuous efforts to improve learning outcomes.
He emphasized the critical role of teachers and advocated for enhanced digital training and increased female participation in the profession.
Hon. Clifford Konah, Assistant Minister for Teacher Education, praised UNICEF’s timely intervention, acknowledging the motorbikes as essential tools for boosting RTTI productivity.

He assured that the Ministry remains committed to securing additional budgetary support for teacher training programs.
Hon. Amos A. Fully, Deputy Minister for Instructions, echoed appreciation for UNICEF’s sustained support and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to this productive collaboration.
Speaking on behalf of the RTTIs, Special Representative Madam Sorna F. Sherif expressed profound gratitude to the Ministry and UNICEF, pledging the effective use of the motorbikes while appealing for further support to enhance teacher training services.
This initiative underscores the Ministry of Education and UNICEF’s shared vision of improving educational accessibility and efficiency, ensuring that teachers in remote areas receive the support needed to strengthen Liberia’s education system.
