Ministry of Education Launches 5-Day Education Sector Plan Operationalization Workshop in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County
Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County, June 17, 2024
The Ministry of Education is pleased to announce the commencement of the Education Sector Plan (ESP) Operationalization Workshop in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County. This pivotal five-day event, running from June 17 to 21, 2024, brings together key stakeholders to discuss and implement the strategic roadmap for transforming Liberia’s education sector.

In August 2022, with significant support from our partners, the Ministry of Education developed the Education Sector Plan for 2022/23–2026/27. This comprehensive plan addresses enduring challenges and aims to create a robust and dynamic education system in Liberia, fostering positive change and hope for both youth and adults. The ESP provides a strategic roadmap to achieve essential educational policy goals over the next five years, focusing on increasing access to education for learners from underserved areas and ensuring their progress and completion of schooling in a healthy, safe, and protective environment.

The workshop’s primary objective is to ensure that all participants gain a thorough understanding of the ESP, its priority programs, and the strategies for its implementation. The workshop will culminate in the development of an operational plan for 2023/24–2026/27, facilitating the successful realization of Liberia’s educational objectives.
Participants include policymakers, Ministry of Education ministers, directors, key support staff, county and district education officers, representatives from relevant government ministries and agencies, the National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE), higher education institutions, and donor partners. Key highlights of the workshop include:
– Orientation for key education stakeholders on the ESP’s priority programs.
– Development and endorsement of a national multi-sectoral operational plan to guide, deliver, and implement education effectively to all Liberians, ensuring equity and inclusivity without prejudice.
