Ministry of Education Launches Five-Day Experience-Sharing Conference and Refresher Training for Female Guidance Counselors

(Monrovia, Liberia – December 17, 2024)

The Ministry of Education, through the Bureau of Student Personnel Services, proudly inaugurated a transformative five-day experience-sharing conference and refresher training for Female Guidance Counselors (FGCs) working in public high schools across Liberia’s fifteen counties, beginning on December 16, 2024.

This training presents an extraordinary opportunity for FGCs to come together, share their experiences, overcome challenges, and develop innovative strategies to strengthen and sustain their vital roles in secondary schools nationwide. By fostering an environment of collaboration and shared learning, the Ministry aims to enhance key areas such as record-keeping, scheduling, and communication with students, parents, school staff, and the Ministry of Education.

The central goal of this initiative is to equip counselors with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide more effective career guidance and psychosocial support services. With a strong focus on supporting female students, the Ministry seeks to empower counselors, enabling them to offer comprehensive services that better meet the needs of all students, particularly young women facing unique educational and social challenges.

The Ministry of Education extends its profound appreciation to the Senior Management Team, the World Bank, the Division of Career Guidance and Psychosocial Counseling, and the dedicated technical staff of the Bureau of Student Personnel Services. Their tireless efforts and collaboration have been instrumental in making this significant training possible.
