In a significant move to enhance educational opportunities, the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Improving Results in Secondary Education (IRISE) project, has officially launched a cutting-edge digital computer lab at Kendeja Public School.

This inauguration is part of a broader initiative to modernize Information Technology infrastructure across Liberia’s public high schools, aiming to bridge the digital divide in education and ensure equal access to technology for all students.

The newly launched computer lab will provide students with vital digital skills, including proficiency in Microsoft software, which are essential in today’s rapidly evolving, tech-driven global economy.

This initiative underscores the Ministry’s commitment to promoting digital literacy and preparing students for success in their future careers.

At the event, Mr. Abraham Kiazulo, IRISE Project Coordinator, emphasized the initiative’s importance in ensuring equitable access to educational resources, particularly for girls.

He noted that access to modern technology, along with a well-structured curriculum, plays a key role in enhancing learning outcomes.

Minister of Education, Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah, expressed her sincere gratitude to the World Bank for its support through the IRISE project.

She reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to equipping students with the skills needed to thrive in today’s competitive job market, with a strong focus on technology-based training programs.

Dr. Jallah also shared plans to expand the initiative, with similar computer labs set to be established in 156 public schools across Liberia’s 15 counties.

Further supporting this vision, Dr. Jallah announced a concurrent training program aimed at equipping 300 public school teachers with digital literacy skills at the Rural Teacher Training Institutes, ensuring that the entire educational ecosystem is digitally empowered.

Madam Vera Smith Lawson, Principal of Kendeja Public School, expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the Ministry of Education and the IRISE project for their efforts.
