Ministry of Education Observes the International Day of the African Child
Monrovia, Liberia – June 16, 2025
The Ministry of Education proudly joins the rest of the continent in commemorating the International Day of the African Child, a momentous occasion dedicated to honoring the resilience, courage, and rights of African children.

Observed annually on June 16, this significant day serves as a powerful call to action—urging governments, institutions, and communities across Africa to reflect on the progress made and renew their commitment to protecting and promoting the rights and well-being of every child.
The 2025 commemoration is held under the theme: “Planning and Budgeting for Children’s Rights: Progress Since 2010.” This theme underscores the critical importance of strategic investment in education, health, and social welfare to ensure that children thrive in safe, inclusive, and empowering environments.
In alignment with this year’s theme, the Ministry of Education reaffirms its unwavering commitment to advancing equity and inclusivity in the Liberian education sector. Through deliberate planning, robust policy frameworks, and collaborative efforts, the Ministry continues to work towards building a system where every Liberian child has access to quality education and the full realization of their rights.

As part of its holistic education agenda, the Ministry remains resolute in providing a safe, learner-centered environment that nurtures growth, dignity, and opportunity for all children, regardless of their background or circumstance.
The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Education, acknowledges the strides made since 2010 and is determined to scale up its efforts to meet the evolving needs of children in the 21st century—ensuring no child is left behind.
