Ministry of Education Receives 5,000 School Bags from UNICEF to Support National Enrollment Campaign
Monrovia, Liberia, 11 October 2024 – The Ministry of Education today received 5,000 back-to-school bags from UNICEF, marking a significant step in the national “Back to My Classroom” campaign. This first shipment aims to support Liberia’s efforts to boost school enrollment by providing students with essential educational supplies. More shipments are expected in the coming weeks.
The “Back to My Classroom” campaign, launched by the Ministry and supported by UNICEF, focuses on overcoming challenges such as poverty and the lack of basic learning materials that hinder school attendance. The initiative ensures that all children, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, have the tools needed for their education.
Nyekeh Y. Forkpa, Deputy Minister of Education, expressed gratitude for the partnership, stating, “These supplies are crucial in helping us get children back to school and ensure they stay. Every child deserves access to quality education.”
UNICEF’s Andy Brooks reaffirmed the organization’s commitment, noting that this delivery is just the beginning of continued support for Liberia’s education system.
This collaboration is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Liberia’s education sector, ensuring inclusivity and better learning opportunities for all students.
