Ministry of Education Successfully Concludes National Headcount of Local Scholarship Beneficiaries

Monrovia, Liberia – April 30, 2025

The Ministry of Education, Republic of Liberia, is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of a nationwide, three-week headcount exercise targeting all Government of Liberia (GoL) local scholarship beneficiaries.

This vital initiative—executed across 16 colleges and universities in five counties—was spearheaded by the Ministry’s Scholarship Division to enhance transparency, strengthen accountability, and ensure data accuracy within the national scholarship framework.

The headcount covered the following academic institutions:

Montserrado County

Starz University

A.M.E University

A.M.E. Zion University

Cuttington University Graduate School

Smythe University College

United Methodist University

Salvation Army Polytechnic

Carver Christian University

Censil University College

Margibi County

Cuttington Junior College

Seventh Day Adventist University

Bong County

Cuttington University

Sumo Moye Memorial Technical College

Nimba County

Liberia International Christian College (Ganta)

Lofa County

Free Pentecostal University (Voinjama)

Esther Bacon College of Health Sciences (Zorzor)

The objectives of the exercise were threefold:

Promote transparency and accountability in scholarship disbursement;

Establish an accurate and up-to-date database of all current beneficiaries; and

Inform future policy and planning decisions in support of national educational priorities.

The Ministry commends the full cooperation of all participating institutions, stakeholders, and student beneficiaries whose collaboration ensured the exercise’s success.

This milestone reaffirms the government’s commitment to building a transparent, data-driven, and equitable education system that efficiently serves Liberia’s youth.
