Ministry of Education and Civil Service Agency Launch One Child, One Chair Initiative

The Ministry of Education, in partnership with the Civil Service Agency (CSA), today presented the first 525 locally manufactured school chairs to His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., marking a meaningful step toward improving learning conditions in public schools.

Speaking at the launch, CSA Director-General Dr. Josiah F. Joekai, Jr. shared that production was financed through revenues generated from enforcing the national assets declaration mandate, and implemented in collaboration with the Monrovia Vocational Training Center, providing hands-on training and decent work opportunities for Liberians.

Minister of Education Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah affirmed that transparent tracking and maintenance systems will accompany distribution to ensure the chairs reach schools equitably and remain in use.

President Boakai welcomed the effort and reiterated government’s commitment to creating conducive learning environments and reducing preventable barriers that undermine student achievement.

Today’s milestone represents early but important progress toward a long-term goal: ensuring every child in Liberia can learn in dignity, comfort, and safety.
