Today, the Ministry of Education launched the National School Hygiene Kits Program, a nationwide effort focused on something simple but powerful: ensuring that health and dignity never stand in the way of learning.
For many students, especially in vulnerable communities, poor hygiene support contributes to absenteeism, illness, and lost learning time. Girls miss school because of inadequate menstrual hygiene support. Boys face preventable health challenges that disrupt attendance and concentration. These realities affect learning outcomes long before a lesson begins.

Through this program, the Ministry will distribute hygiene kits to 10,000 at-risk students nationwide, helping schools become safer, healthier spaces where learners can show up with confidence and stay engaged.
Speaking at the launch, Minister of Education Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah reminded stakeholders that education is not only about books and classrooms, but about care, dignity, and protection. When students are healthy and supported, learning has a real chance to succeed.
This initiative reflects a broader commitment to inclusive education that meets learners where they are and removes barriers that quietly push them out of school.
Because dignity supports learning, and learning shapes the future.
