Minister of Education Pays Surprise Visit to Margibi Kakata Model High School and Early Childhood Education Training

Kakata, Margibi County – August 9, 2025

In a warm show of dedication to education reform, Minister Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah on August 8, 2025, made an unannounced visit to the Ministry of Education’s IRISE Project at the Margibi Kakata Model High School Campus.

The tour focused on reviewing progress, listening to staff, and ensuring the work reflects both national education priorities and global best practices.

While at the project site, Minister Jallah kindly encouraged Principal Dr. Nancy Freeman of the Booker Washington Institute (BWI) to give special priority to enrolling workers from the project site—especially members of the local workforce and female participants—into the school’s technical and vocational programs.

She expressed that creating such opportunities can open pathways to practical, job-ready skills that support livelihoods and strengthen the national economy.

Minister Jallah also toured the Early Childhood Education (ECE) training workshops, where a 40-day intensive program is enhancing teachers’ abilities in literacy, numeracy, and socio-emotional learning, ensuring a strong foundation for Liberia’s youngest learners.

“A strong start for our children is the strongest foundation for our nation’s future,” — Minister Jarso Maley Jallah

The Minister warmly commended the dedication of trainers, educators, and support staff, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring every Liberian child has access to quality, inclusive, and future-ready education that nurtures prosperity and lifelong learning.
