Liberia’s Ministry of Education Announces Key Reforms.
At today’s Ministry of Information press briefing, Acting Minister of Education Atty. Nyekeh Forkpa shared updates following a nationwide county tour. He noted that the assessment confirmed persistent gaps in staffing and infrastructure but praised local officers for their dedication and reaffirmed the government’s pledge to deliver affordable, inclusive education for every child.
The Minister also highlighted progress in integrating voluntary teachers into the system, with thousands already verified and new names submitted to the Civil Service Agency for recruitment. In addition, new schools in Bong and Nimba Counties are set to open this academic year, while a modern facility in Kakata, Margibi County, is nearing completion.
He emphasized that transforming Liberia’s education sector requires consistency, accountability, and collaboration, and reaffirmed the Ministry’s determination to strengthen teaching, expand access, and ensure safe learning environments across the country.
