Responsibilities

The design, delivery, coordination, monitoring and review of all Basic Education programs covering Primary Education, Junior, Secondary and Adult Education, in line with the National Policy designed by the Ministry and endorsed by the Government, in harmony with the Ministry’s stated objectives and priorities for the stated levels;

Ensure effective monitoring and review of content, pedagogy, access, gender equity, management and control of the programs of Basic Education in the country;

Ensure that the educational programs meet the required skills and high education quest of the society and prepare graduates to either enter the workforce with the appropriate vocational skill or trade, or for higher education in post-secondary educational institutions;

Develop and maintain, through the office of the Assistant Minister, a professional relationship with institutions engaged in education programs supervised by the Bureau;

Develop, design and implement all Basic and Secondary Education programs and policies in consonance with the changing needs of the society;
