AlUla Fellowships Programme 2025
Call for Applications – Now Open
The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Liberia is pleased to announce the launch of the second edition of the UNESCO/Kingdoms Institute AlUla Fellowships Programme 2025, hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This highly competitive international fellowship offers outstanding opportunities for experienced professionals and researchers in the fields of heritage conservation, management, and research.
It aims to enhance global scientific knowledge in cultural heritage, strengthen World Heritage site management, and improve emergency preparedness and response within the heritage sector.
Fellowship Details
Programme Duration: 24 months
Number of Fellowships: 10 global fellows
Fellowship Host: Kingdoms Institute, AlUla, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Programme Objectives:
Advance heritage research and conservation practices
Strengthen World Heritage site management capacities
Improve emergency response mechanisms for cultural heritage
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the programme, applicants must:
Be a citizen of one of the invited UNESCO Member States or Associate Members
Be between 25 and 40 years of age at the time of application
Hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in one of the following fields or closely related areas:
Culture, Heritage Management, Architecture, Urban Planning/Development
Archaeology, Conservation, Museum Management
Cultural Policies, Anthropology, Art History, Arts Management
Creative Industries, International Relations, Social and Human Sciences
Possesses excellent command of English (oral and written)
Required Application Documents
Applicants must submit the following documents in English:
1. Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages)
2. Certified copies of academic degrees or diplomas
3. Completed Application Form (available for pick-up at the Ministry of Education, Liberia)
4. Motivation Letter (maximum 1 page)
5. Completed Proposal Form (maximum 3 pages, available at the Ministry of Education), containing:
Title of the proposal
Fellowship profile selected
Brief personal profile of the applicant (max 1 page)
Explanation of the innovation and added value of the proposal to AlUla and UNESCO (½ page)
Date and signature of the applicant
6. A 2-minute self-introduction video (MP4 format, under 50MB), clearly addressing the following:
What motivates you to apply for the Fellowship, and why are you a strong candidate?
What unique skills or added value would you bring to the programme?
7. Copy of a valid passport, with an expiration date no earlier than July 31, 2026
