UNESCO–Equatorial Guinea International Prize for Research in the Life Sciences (10th Edition)
Are you a Liberian scientist, researcher, institution, or organization advancing work in biology, medicine, agriculture, environmental science, or life-science technologies?
Has your research improved, or shown strong potential to improve, the quality of human life?
The Liberian National Commission for UNESCO, in collaboration with UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea, invites qualified Liberians to apply for the 10th Edition of the UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea International Prize for Research in the Life Sciences.
The prize recognizes outstanding scientific research that contributes to human development, health, food security, and environmental sustainability.
Who can apply
1. Individual scientists or groups of scientists
2. Research institutions, universities, and institutes
3. Non-governmental organizations officially partnered with UNESCO and active in the life sciences
All candidates must demonstrate a significant and transformative research contribution that directly enhances human life.
What winners receive
1. Three laureates will share a total prize of US$300,000
2. Each laureate will receive a certificate and the “Integración Tribal” statuette by Equatorial Guinean artist Leando Mbomie
3. Two outstanding African female scientists under the age of 45 will each receive US$25,000
How to apply (National Nomination Stage)
Applicants must submit one PDF file to swilliams@moe.gov.lr with copy to vmartin@moe.gov.lr containing:
1. A two-page summary of the research work outlining objectives, methodology, results, and impact on human life
2. A list of at least five key publications or technical reports
Deadline
March 15, 2026 at 5:00 PM Monrovia time
Next steps
1. The Liberian National Commission for UNESCO will vet all submissions
2. Up to five candidates will be formally nominated
3. Nominated candidates will receive support to complete the final UNESCO application before March 31, 2026 at 11:00 PM
