Liberia’s Education Ministry Embeds Arts and Heritage in Public Schools

The Ministry of Education is launching a groundbreaking 32-week pilot program to integrate Liberian Arts and Heritage into public schools, bringing music, drama, fine arts, and choreography into the classroom.

In partnership with the Liberia Cultural Ambassador and key stakeholders, this initiative aims to reawaken national pride, nurture creativity, and preserve Liberia’s cultural identity.

Thirty-two trained facilitators will lead the pilot in four public schools across Montserrado County, ensuring standardized, high-quality delivery.

Assistant Minister Abba G. Karnga described the project as “a bold step toward holistic education and cultural preservation.”

This effort forms part of the Ministry’s broader reform to provide holistic, contextually relevant education, one that not only builds knowledge but also strengthens national values, creativity, and belonging.
