Ministry of Education Launches Nationwide School Census to Improve Education Service Delivery Through Comprehensive Data Collection
Monrovia, Liberia – July 17, 2025

The Ministry of Education officially announces the commencement of the National School Census Data Collection Exercise, which began on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, and is scheduled to continue for three weeks.
This nationwide exercise underscores the Ministry’s commitment to evidence-based planning, transparency, and systemic education reform. The census will capture critical data from the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 academic years, providing a solid foundation for strategic decision-making and inclusive sectoral development.
The census will gather information across key areas, including:
School profiles
Enrollment and repetition rates
Disability and inclusive education records
Curriculum and instructional delivery
School infrastructure, sanitation, and health
School management and fee structures

Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)
Teaching and non-teaching personnel data
These data points are essential for monitoring the implementation of the Education Sector Plan (ESP) and the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID), and for ensuring equitable distribution of resources and targeted policy interventions.
All public, private, faith-based, and community schools across Liberia’s 16 Educational Counties and 125 Educational Districts are expected to provide full access and cooperation to Ministry of Education personnel and District Education Officers (DEOs) during the exercise.
However, preliminary findings show that some institutions—particularly within the private and faith-based sectors—have yet to submit the statistical booklets distributed over two months ago. The Ministry urges these schools to immediately complete and return the required data to ensure full national coverage and the success of the exercise.
The Ministry of Education extends sincere appreciation to all stakeholders for their continued support and reaffirms its commitment to delivering a strong, inclusive, and high-quality education system for every Liberian child.
