The Ministry of Education, through its Bureau of Technical and Vocational Education (TVET), proudly celebrated the 53rd Graduation Commencement of the Maryann Cheeseman School of Home Economics and Cosmetology.

The ceremony, held at the Monrovia Christian Fellowship under the theme “Torch Bearers of Success,” honored more than one hundred graduates who completed training in home economics, cosmetology, and related technical disciplines.

The program featured a colorful academic procession, cultural performances, and exhibitions of student work; including handmade African attire, household items, and confectioneries, demonstrating the practical skills acquired during their studies.

Principal Mrs. Joyce Clayton reaffirmed the school’s mission to reduce illiteracy and equip youth with vocational skills relevant to Liberia’s hospitality and service industries. She extended appreciation to UNIDO for supporting the school’s recent renovations through the Youth Rising Project, and appealed for continued government support to the three Maryann Cheeseman Vocational Schools in Montserrado County.

Messages of encouragement and commitment came from across government and partners.

Representing the Office of the First Lady, Dr. Adam M. Kyne emphasized Madam Kartumu Boakai’s dedication to expanding TVET nationwide. On behalf of the Guest Speaker, Hon. Musa Hassan Bility, Mr. James M. V. Yougie of the Citizen Movement for Change (CMC) congratulated the graduates and pledged CMC’s support to vocational graduates entering the workforce.

Speaking for the Ministry, Assistant Minister for TVET, Hon. Nathaniel K. Cisco, Jr., underscored that TVET is central to Liberia’s human capital development strategy, while IECD Country Director Mr. Guillaume Desjonqueres reiterated his organization’s commitment to supporting high-quality vocational training in Liberia.

For more than five decades, the Maryann Cheeseman School has prepared thousands of Liberians with the skills to build livelihoods, support families, and strengthen the nation’s workforce.

The Ministry congratulates the Class of 2025 and encourages them to use their skills as true “torch bearers of success.” 🎉
