Paynesville, Montserrado County – July 31, 2025

The Minister of Education, Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah, has officially launched the Liberia National Academic Excellence Award 2025, a flagship initiative aimed at celebrating exceptional academic performance.
The official launch took place at the Liberia Learning Center in Paynesville, where Dr. Jallah emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to nurturing excellence, strengthening public trust in education, and preparing the next generation of national leaders.
“This initiative is a powerful reminder that excellence matters.
As our young scholars rise, we must rise with them—by investing in their future and honoring their brilliance,” Dr. Jallah stated.
Founded in 2015, the award has so far recognized more than 350 outstanding students in debate, essay writing, spelling bee, poetry, and storytelling.

It has also celebrated high-achieving graduates from prestigious institutions such as the Louise Arthur Grimes School of Law, the A.M. Dogliotti College of Medicine, and the School of Pharmacy.
For the 2025 edition, the Ministry will honor 75 top-performing senior secondary students.
Career development and scholarship access
In preparation for the main awards ceremony on Sunday, November 2, 2025, these honorees will participate in a three-day academic enrichment program from October 30 to November 1,

focusing on:
Leadership and civic responsibility
Digital literacy and innovation
Physical wellness and mental health
During the launch, Minister Jallah also unveiled three landmark sponsorships:
Two WASSCE scholars will receive full scholarships to study in Nigeria through the Rochas Foundation International Program.
Two outstanding teachers will represent Liberia at the Africa Continental Teacher Prize 2025 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Abdullah Sonnie, a rising academic talent, was awarded a local university scholarship of his choice.

These opportunities underscore the Ministry’s focus on merit, empowerment, and the transformative potential of education.
The program is jointly implemented by the Ministry of Education and Educate the Next Gen, with technical oversight from a Board of Advisors comprising leading educators, researchers, and former awardees. Each honoree will be officially recognized by the Office of the Minister of Education.
Mr. Isaac Muapoh, Executive Director of Educate the Next Gen, commended the initiative as a symbol of Liberia’s forward-looking vision:
“When we uplift excellence, we uplift Liberia.
This award strengthens our national identity and champions our future.”
As Liberia advances its education reform agenda, the Liberia National Academic Excellence Award remains a beacon of hope, pride, and opportunity for students throughout the nation.
