The Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Education has broken grounds for the expansion of the William VS Tubman Junior High in Kpain Nimba County to a senior secondary school in the Saclapea Education District 2.

(March 13, 2022 Gompa City, Nimba County) The Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Education has broken grounds for the expansion of the William VS Tubman Junior High in Kpain Nimba County to a senior secondary school in the Saclapea Education District 2.

Education Minister, Prof. Dr. D. Ansu  Sonii, speaking during the ground breaking ceremony in Kpain Town, Nimba County, called on parents to place premium on Girls education.

Minister Sonii said educating girls is one of the surest ways to eliminating poverty in a country.

Meanwhile, the Education Minister stressed that the long struggle for attaining High School Education in Kpain, Nimba County is on the verge of being over.

He said a nation with tons of educated women leads to prosperity and unmatched developments as opposed to men.

Minister Sonii however intimated that the Government of President George Weah will continue to place special attention to Girls education.

He also said to achieve such feat; the Government through the Ministry of education has hired the professional services of two hundred women to serve as female guidance counselors to be placed in various Public high Schools across the Country.

Minister Sonii added that the female guidance counselors will provide some psychosocial supports to female students in senior secondary schools.

He further stated that, the female guidance counselors will work with school authorities and community stakeholders to mitigate any barrier that tends to prevent a female from staying and completing Senior high school.

The education Ministry boss maintained that the move is to ensure that no girl drops from school because of other factors.

Minister Sonii was speaking in Kpain Town, Meinpea-Mah administrative district in Nimba County during the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of public high school in the area.

The ground breaking in Kpain now brings to three, the numbers of Public High Schools to be built in the Country.

Education Minister, Ansu Sonii, said under the IRISE Project, the Ministry of Education is poised to construct twenty-five public high schools across education districts without high school in the Country in addition to the three model secondary schools to be constructed in Ganta, Gbarnga and Kakata.

He said the construction and expansion project is to ensure that every education district in the Country has a Public High School. Minister Sonii told the people of Kpain in Nimba County, that Government is determined to improve conditions of all public high schools in the Country.

Meanwhile, residents in Kpain Nimba County have hailed Government for sustained efforts to strengthen the Country’s education sector.
